One of the final big additions to Xbox Game Pass in 2024 was Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled back on December 4th, and ultimately it ended up getting overshadowed a little bit by the arrival of Indiana Jones a few days later.

This is a game we’ve been enjoying for years outside of Game Pass though, and some might even say it’s better than Mario Kart! Developer Beenox did a great job (in our opinion) bringing this PS1 classic up to modern standards in 2019, and to be honest we’ve actually enjoyed playing it solo more than in multiplayer for the most part.

Unlike Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled isn’t actually as pick-up-and-play as it seems — success is geared around mastering the tricky drift mechanics — and so multiplayer can feel a bit mismatched if you’re playing with friends and family. Get online though, and suddenly you might find yourself overwhelmed by the level of challenge!
